Mommy View

Here's what I get to look down at every day (notice the absence of feet, lol)!!  The right side of my belly is rounder because that's where Connor likes to hang out.

As of tomorrow (Saturday) I will be 37 weeks along, which means I'm full term and Connor could literally come at any time!!  I can't believe it's getting so close!

I'm no longer a student!

I'm done with school!!  Now I can concentrate on getting everything ready for the baby to get here.

I had a doctor's appointment today; Connor is head down and low.  I'm a week away from full term, so if I go into labor in the next week or so he'll try and stop it, but Connor is getting big enough that if he really wanted to come, he would probably be ok and not have problems.  Anytime after next week, if I go into labor, I'll get a baby!

My doctor didn't say anything to make me think that he'll come early, but was basically just saying that if he did, he'd be ok.  Since Bryan and I are moving in a week and a half, I hope that Connor can hang out long enough for us to get settled in our new place at least, and I hope that moving doesn't send me into labor!  I'm getting REALLY uncomfortable but I want a healthy baby, so Connor can keep cooking as long as he needs to.  If he decides he wants to come out soon, I'd be ok with that too :)

It's getting so much more real; I could literally have a baby at any time!  I can't wait until I can post pictures of my outside baby!

Speaking of pictures, my good friend Bret (bretanderson.com) took some maternity portraits of me today, and I can't wait to get some from him so I can post them!!

So... Close...

After a couple of late nights and some fancy computer help from Bret, I think I am done with my portfolio class.  I have to go in tomorrow, print a few things out in the library, and give a presentation, but I hope I'm done.  Also, I'm waiting on paperwork to be returned from my internship that of course I put off until the very last second, and I'm a bit worried about that getting faxed in on time.  No internship paperwork = no graduation...

In addition I will be running around the school like a crazy person trying to get all of my graduation paperwork filled out, signed, and finalized by the 15 different people who need to contribute because, of course, I couldn't have possibly done any of this in the past 10 weeks, I had to wait until my last day of class to do everything.

The good news is, my portfolio looks fancy and professional (at least I think so; I hope my teacher and my grade agree), and the end of my schooling is within reach.  At the end of all this, the only thing I'm interested in is sleeping.

In less than 2 weeks, Bryan and I will be moving This makes me nervous because I will officially be full term, which means that Connor could come at any time.  If he can just stay in long enough for us to get our bed, his bassinet, changing table, and pack and play assembled in the new place, I'll be happy.  If the rest of the house in in boxes, so be it, but I at least want his stuff ready.  Also, I need to have the car seat base installed and our hospital bag packed, but of course I don't know when I'll do any of that.

Right now he just needs to keep cooking so I can get everything ready (I'm sure that if I go past my due date that statement will come back to bite me in the butt).  The good news is, Bryan and I found a pediatrician that we really like, and I think we'll be happy with him.

Ok, it's after 3 in the morning and I'm exhausted.  I'll hopefully get a decent amount of sleep so I'm not a zombie during my presentation, and I fully plan on going to bed early tomorrow.

I can't wait until Bryan and I have an outside baby that I can give updates on; I'm sure it will be much more interesting than my current tales of procrastination.  Until next time :)

My Poor Feet!

Yesterday was a fun day, even though I was busy.  I woke up and went shopping with my friend, Jessica.  She's pregnant and due with a little girl 2 days before me, so it's nice to have someone who is at the same stage I am.  We went to Target, Babies R Us, JoAnns, and Kohl's, and by the time she dropped me off at home we were both exhausted, and our feet hurt.  I got a new sports bra at Target (one that will be good for nursing), a nursing tank at Babies R Us to wear to the hospital, and yarn at JoAnns.

After hanging out for a while at home with Bryan, we met up with my mom, brother, sister, niece, and nephew for dinner.  We went to a Chinese buffet, and ended up taking an hour and a half to eat between multiple trips for food and trading kid duties.  We were there a long time, but we all got our fill, and it was fun.  The people in my family (with the exception of my brother) are crab leg challenged, so there were bits of crab meat and shell flying around our table, and I was just trying to avoid letting any land in my purse or down my shirt.  I was constantly dodging crab, and I don't even eat seafood!!

After dinner, Bryan, my mom, and I went on a walk around our neighborhood that was about a mile long (I had changed my shoes, because the sandals I was wearing all day just weren't going to cut it).  It was nice and relaxing, and the weather was awesome.  When we got back home I was EXHAUSTED.  I took a shower, and Bryan and I went to bed at 10:30 or 11, which is very early for us.  Usually my bedtime is around 12:30 or 1:30, and Bryan can be anywhere from 2:30 to 4 in the morning.  I liked the walk we took, and I want to start doing that as often as we can; some nice light, non-strenuous exercise, and time outside now that the weather is so nice.  :)

I'm having so much fun...

I'm just sitting here, watching my belly move around.  I had school today and made some progress (though I still have a lot of work to do in the next week).  I only have a week and a half left of school, and I'm having trouble getting motivated.  I'm SO ready to be done, and school just isn't interesting to me because I just want to be a mommy!!

My baby shower on Sunday was amazing, Tania did such a great job at planning and coordinating everything, and the ice cream cake we made was yummy!!!  We got so many wonderful gifts (and clothes) for Connor, and I can't wait to use them all!  I have his clothes, blankets, towels, and bibs all washed and organized by size, so I hopefully won't have a ton of laundry to do later on.

I have a feeling that Connor is going to be super long, because he's constantly in my ribs and pelvis at the same time.  I feel out of room, and still have 6 weeks to go!!  Not much to update, I'm sure my blog will get much more interesting after Connor gets here, lol.

BUSY day!

So today my sister, Tania, was trying to get everything ready for my baby shower on Sunday (tomorrow is pretty full, so we had to try and get everything done today).  I went to the grocery store, then to her house, then we baked cakes, then me, Tania, and her two kids went to Target, Babies R Us, Party City, Ross, and Dollar Tree.  Back to her house, back to the store, back to her house to make frosting and put the cake together.

Next I went home to Bryan, who had also been running errands all day, including going to the post office, getting my smog checked, figuring out paperwork for medical bills from over a year ago, and a few other things.

Once I got home, we had to leave almost immediately to meet our friends for dinner (Happy Birthday Lillian!).  Now we're back home cleaning the house and getting ready for my mother in law Kimberly to get in town tomorrow.  We've done the dishes and straightened up downstairs, and now we're working on laundry and the top floor.  Then it's shower time, and I have to finish knitting a hat tonight.

Tomorrow is just as packed; I need to go to the post office in the morning while Bryan is showing a car jack to someone who might want to buy it.  Then Kimberly gets in town, we'll hopefully have lunch together, and Bryan needs to leave for work, and I need to leave to attend a baby shower (which, consequently, is the reason I need to finish knitting that hat tonight).  After the baby shower my brother Christopher is taking me to see West Side Story (yay!) and I'll hopefully find time to see Chiara (who also gets in town tomorrow).

Phew!!  So I'll try and find a couple minutes to update over the next couple days, but since I'm sneaking away from laundry duty (which I need to get back to) to update right now, I don't know if I'll find the time.  But YAY for my baby shower this weekend!!!  I just wish we had more time and less to do before it got here :)

My achievements of the day

So today I finished sewing the corset that I designed in my draping class.  Here are some pictures:
.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  The zipper at the front separates, so it's easy to get on and off, and there is boning at all of the princess seams.  I designed, draped, made a pattern for, and sewed this entire thing; I'm quite proud of myself for it!!

The next thing I did was make a beanie for Connor!!  It didn't take very long at all, and I'm really excited with how it turned out.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to make more in other colors.  Here it is:
I'm sorry about the bad quality picture; I took it from my phone.  I'm so excited, I can't wait to see Connor wearing it!!  It was way easier than I thought it would be, so I'm thinking this might be my go-to baby shower gift from now on (not by itself; as part of a package).

I had a productive day (well, evening/night) and wanted to share.

Let's try this out...

So I'm sure I'll be terrible at keeping this updated, but I'd like to start so that friends and family can keep up with Connor and how he's doing.

Today I'm 33 weeks and 2 days along in my pregnancy, which means I have less than 7 weeks until Connor's due date!! I called and set up 2 consultation appointments with pediatricians in the area, and I'm hoping that I'll find a good fit. They're not until April 21st, so I have time to think of questions to ask. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know :) I really hope that I like one of the 2 doctors I'm going to see so I don't have to extend my search. Especially because both of their offices are less than 5 minutes away from us (and literally next door to the hospital where I'm delivering), so it won't be a far drive for appointments, or if Connor gets sick.

I have my Draping class tonight, one of only 3 left before I graduate!!! During these 3 classes, I have to drape a dress I designed, create a pattern, make the dress (fully finished, with zippers, clean hems, no raw edges), and include sewing instructions and everything. I'm worried about getting it all done, but at this point I'm just doing what I need to so I can graduate, have my degree, and get ready for Connor's arrival. I'm getting really excited to be a mommy, and as a result, school is feeling less and less important. I just want to be done already!
